Corporación Descentralizadas was founded in 2017 in the Biobío Region, in south-central Chile, driven by its founders’ vision of building a more inclusive and equal society. We pursue this purpose by promoting the participation of women and gender-diverse people in all spheres of society.

Our main areas of work include education, training, and capacity-building from a gender perspective; advice and consultancy on good practices for gender equality; research on gender equality issues; and the creation of and participation in women’s networks seeking to influence human development, reduce gender gaps, and advance gender-responsive public policies. We also design and implement projects that strengthen and promote issues related to gender equality.

One of our key initiatives is the “A Mirarse” programme, which seeks to improve the quality of life of informal caregivers through gender-responsive training, the development of social support networks, and connections with health and social services that promote self-care.

The programme has been implemented continuously since 2020, generating valuable learning, impact assessments, and ongoing improvements to its design and delivery.
