This technical note contains a case study on the elderly care service program called “Day Care Center” of the Social Health Care Center for the Elderly (CASSAAM) of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). The study describes and analyzes the design of the program, some aspects of its current operation and identifies its strengths and some challenges and lessons learned from its current operation. This is a care program for functionally dependent elderly people; an IMSS initiative with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
