The Right to Care and Community Care: Feminist Perspectives from Latin America and the Global South on the Importance of Community Care, Drawing on Experiences from Latin America and the Global South.

El derecho al cuidado y los cuidados comunitarios: articulaciones feministas desde América Latina y el Sur global sobre la importancia de los cuidados comunitarios con experiencias de Latinoámerica y el Sur Global.

The text develops the idea that care is a fundamental right and a central dimension for sustaining life, one that has historically been made invisible and unequally distributed, falling primarily on women especially those from vulnerable sectors. From a feminist and Global South perspective, it examines the structural inequalities that shape care and questions the current social organization, pointing out the limitations of existing public policies.

At the same time, it highlights community-based care experiences in Latin America as collective forms of resistance and organization that aim to redistribute responsibilities, strengthen solidarity networks, and build fairer alternatives. Overall, the text proposes recognizing care as a human right and a key axis for transforming social, economic, and political systems toward more equitable and sustainable models.
