Allies for Care: A Feminist Advocacy Model for Building the Right to Care in Andalusia
In a context marked by the crisis of welfare systems and the deepening of gender inequalities, care has become one of the main arenas of contemporary political dispute. This article, both pedagogical and strategic in nature, analyzes the experience of Aliadas por la Cuidadanía, promoted by Alianza por la Solidaridad/ActionAid Spain, as a practical model of feminist advocacy on care developed in Andalusia.
Through a combination of collective action, the production of political narratives, and multilevel institutional dialogue, the initiative has succeeded in positioning care as a universal human right and a public responsibility. The text breaks down the “how” of advocacy: what it means to advocate from a feminist perspective, which tools are used, why territory matters, and why there are no rights without budget.
