The study of pensions systems from a gender perspective involves addressing an issue of great relevance in contributing to achieving equality between men and women in the region. Women face multiple and diverse inequalities throughout the life cycle. It should come as no surprise that they face a greater risk of poverty than men because they do not receive their own income in old age.
