THE SUM FOR EQUALITY. Public agenda proposals to involve men in gender equality.
The Sum for Equality (Suma por la Igualdad) is an agenda that summarizes public policy issues related to men and gender equality. Developed mainly by professionals working in civil society organizations and academic institutions, it was created with the aim of considering and involving men as politically active social actors committed to gender equality.
Integrating a citizens' agenda involves identifying the public problems facing a society, explaining why they are so and how they are perceived by the actors involved, in order to find the most appropriate solutions. In the case of gender inequality, this requires the transformation of ideas, roles and inter- and intra-gender relations, both at the macro level - that is, from the State and its institutions - and at the micro level, for example, in relationships between couples and within families.
