Women spend disproportionately more time onunpaid work such as childcare and household choresthan men. Childcare responsibilities and householdchores seem to impede women’s participation in paidwork. The quality and cost of paid childcare servicesalso influence a woman’s decision to take her childrento childcare facilities and engage in employment orstay at home and look after her children. Interventionsthat provide alternative childcare options can enablewomen to meaningfully contribute to economicproduction processes.
