The Global Alliance for Care at the High-Level Political Forum 2025 (14–23 July)
July 14–23, 2025 | United Nations Headquarters, New York | Virtual and hybrid events
The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) is currently taking place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, from 14 to 23 July 2025, under the theme: “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for leaving no one behind.”
This year, the Forum is conducting in-depth reviews of five Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 5 (gender equality) and SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth), both of which are central to the care and support agenda.
Placing care at the center of the HLPF
The Global Alliance for Care is actively engaged in this key multilateral space, highlighting the transformative potential of care systems in building fair, inclusive, and sustainable development. Through events led by members and allied organizations, the Alliance is working to ensure that care is recognized as a cross-cutting issue essential to achieving the SDGs.

Care Advocacy Toolkit for HLPF
In its 2025–2030 Strategic Priorities, the Global Alliance for Care identified the HLPF as a key space to scale up advocacy efforts, integrate care into sustainable development frameworks, and promote its recognition as a cross-cutting driver of progress across the SDGs. The HLPF also presents a critical opportunity to advance the Alliance’s transformative care agenda on the global stage.
To support meaningful participation, the Alliance’s Technical Secretariat has developed a Care Advocacy Toolkit for HLPF, designed to help members:
- Understand the structure and purpose of the HLPF
- Explore the relevance of care in the SDG framework
- Identify advocacy opportunities
- Access additional resources developed by members
This toolkit builds on similar initiatives developed for CSW69, the International Labour Conference (ILC), and FfD4.
We hope these tools will strengthen member engagement and increase the visibility of our collective care agenda in multilateral processes.
The Global Alliance for Care remains committed to placing care at the heart of sustainable development.
