The Care Agenda 30 Years After the Fourth World Conference on Women: A Reflection on Achievements and the Way Forward

This event will be held in the framework of CSW69/Beijing+30

When: March 21, 2025

Time: 1:15 – 2:30 p.m.

Modality: In-person.

Where: Conference Room A at the Headquarters of the United Nations

Organized by: Government of Chile, Government of Germany, Government of Spain, Government of the Philippines, UN Women and the Global Alliance for Care.

Back in 1995, the Beijing Platform for Action asserted that “Care of children, the sick, and the elderly is a responsibility that falls disproportionately on women, owing to lack of equality and the unbalanced distribution of remunerated and unremunerated work between women and men.”. Three decades later, this statement still holds true. However, new concepts, debates, and policy models have emerged that deepen our understanding of the situation and provide a way forward. As leaders meet to assess progress on gender equality as outlined by the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, this event aims to bring together key actors working on the care agenda to reflect on their progress, challenges, and major demands.

Speakers include:

  •  Amb. Paula Narvaéz Ojeda, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Chile to the United Nations
