The WageMap consortium was established to bring together the Living Wage community and drive alignment across living wage methodologies. It will publish a Living Wage estimate for a specific location that is most aligned with the ‘North Star’ Living Wage Reference Standard. It will strengthen support for businesses implementing Living Wages by removing barriers to data and providing guidance through a Living Wage Knowledge Hub.

Care is one of the major categories of cost that forms part of the Living Wage Reference Standard that is not consistently included in existing Living Wage methodologies. WageMap has broken this category down into Childcare, Elder Care and Care for other family components and is looking to develop data on how cyclical care can be considered in living wage estimates. It is one of the categories of cost where more research is needed to get consensus across Living Wage stakeholders.
