It is the Colombian section of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), recognized as the world’s oldest women’s peace organization, with more than 100 years of peace activism and a presence in 38 countries. The movement works to strengthen women’s voices and leadership so that they can develop alternatives to crises and conflicts that prioritize peace.
LIMPAL Colombia promotes the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Colombia. The organization is recognized for its commitment to disarmament, reintegration, and reconciliation from a feminist and pacifist perspective; for strengthening organizations at the local level; and for its advocacy regarding the implementation of the Final Agreement to End the Armed Conflict between the Government of Colombia and the FARC-EP.
Its mission is to build peace by promoting women’s political participation and advocacy. Through an intersectional approach, LIMPAL Colombia works to advance the recognition, defense, and protection of women’s rights and to foster the peaceful transformation of Colombian society as a whole.
