Southern Centre for Inequality Studies (SCIS) of the University of Witwatersrand
The Southern Centre for Inequality Studies (SCIS) at the University of the Witwatersrand conducts research on inequality in the Global South and, through its African Care and Climate Innovation Alliance (ACACIA) Hub, focuses specifically on the relationship between care work and climate change.
The Hub generates evidence on how the climate crisis affects care work, studies mechanisms for financing and recognizing care work, and develops proposals for incorporating care into climate adaptation and resilience policies. It also promotes knowledge exchange and collaboration among researchers, organizations, and policymakers in Eastern and Southern Africa.
