Advocacy Toolkit: 113th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC)
We are pleased to share the report “The Care Agenda in the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women and Beijing+30 Review Process,” prepared by the Alliance's Technical Secretariat.
In Mexico, 31.7 million people aged 15 and over provide care in the home, three-quarters of whom are women.
The participation rate of women in the labor market drops from 56.6% to 50.3% when they have to care for infants or people with disabilities.
The United Nations General Assembly adopted in September 2024 the Pact for the Future, an intergovernmental agreement containing a series of commitments to address current and future challenges.
Care specialists and decision-makers participated in the event "Moving towards a care society". It was an opportunity to deepen debates, address public policy and institutional challenges and exchange experiences on care systems.
Representatives of governments, international organizations and civil society organizations discussed the basis for a Bi-regional Pact for Care between Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union. The Technical Secretary of the Alliance urged further progress on the care agenda.
The report examines good practices of support systems enabling community inclusion of persons with disabilities.
It also provides examples of good practices for gender-responsive and disability-inclusive support and care systems.
The Global Alliance for Care welcomes the resolution “Promoting care and support systems for social development” (document E/CN.5/2024/L.5) adopted by the Commission for Social Development of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
