ESCAP is organizing an Asia-Pacific virtual commemoration in collaboration with ILO, UNDP, UN Women for the first commemoration of the International Day of Care and Support on 30 October 2023. The objective is to raise awareness of the importance of care and support.
"People with disabilities in comprehensive care systems with a gender perspective: good practices and challenges in the EU and LAC" is the second dialogue organised by the EU-LAC Foundation, INMUJERES, UN Women, ECLAC and the Global Alliance for Care, to advance towards comprehensive care systems.
The round table seeks to bring a greater understanding of the importance of care and support systems and service provision for community inclusion of persons with disabilities by exposing how traditional care models do not recognize or enable the autonomy of persons with disabilities.
The Global Alliance for Care calls for action to strengthen comprehensive care systems as a crucial pathway to gender-responsive recovery from the current global crises. It urges governments and all other sectors to take urgent action.
Two years after the Global Alliance for Care launch, important achievements in care were presented. It was during the event "Moving towards a New Care Paradigm through Collective Action: A High-Level, Interactive and Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue" at #UNGA78.
Achievements and challenges in designing and implementing care policies and comprehensive care systems will be shared at the event: “Moving Towards a New Care Paradigm through Collective Action: A High-level, Interactive, Multi-stakeholder Dialogue”. It will take place in the framework of #UNGA78.
The Global Alliance for Care will participate in "Building evidence for policy action on the care economy", a side event in the framework of #UNGA78. The discussion will address what is needed for systems-level change in care policy at global, regional, and national levels.
